In the former production kitchen of Bijlmerbajes prison, Syrian entrepreneur Jay Asad is running StartUp Kitchen.
StartUp Kitchen is a social impact driven Food Catering business; where refugee food professionals can train, and prepare to work in the Dutch food industry. Jay is focused on enabling refugee food professionals to succeed. We do this by providing the perfect on-site training platform where emerging food professionals get to show off their talent and learn local rules, regulations and soft skills from Dutch experts to explore their possibilities and bring them closer to job market.
Jay was the owner of several restaurants, a hotel and speciality doughnut shops in Damascus. He can be contacted for catering, cooking workshops and more.
